Charleston Pedicab Hit and Run
Anastopoulo Law Firm Files Lawsuit for Pedicab Driver Travis ODell Who Was Hit by Drunk Driver on Meeting Street
(Charleston, SC / Thursday, 5.19.22) – The Anastopoulo Law Firm has been retained to represent the operator of a local pedicab taxi after a rear end collision left him in critical condition at MUSC. The Anastopoulo Law Firm filed the Pedicab Driver lawsuit today on behalf of Travis Odell, a College of Charleston alum and avid marathon runner, after the tragic Friday morning incident.
The drunk driver plowed through the rickshaw and fled the scene only to be apprehended minutes later by Charleston Police Department near his disabled BMW blocks away from the impact site.
Officers arrested Demetre on one count of hit-and-run resulting in death or injury and one count of felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury or death, police records show. An Accident Reconstructionist hired by Anastopoulo Law Firm has determined that Demetre was traveling grossly in excess of the speed limit at the time of impact, throwing Travis approximately 150 feet down Meeting Street.
Travis remains in a medically induced coma at MUSC, with multiple serious injuries, including two broken legs, two collapsed lungs, comminuted forearm, broken ribs, fractured mandible, fractured pelvis, dislocated hip, and severe lacerations covering his body.
"This is an important case for an important member of our community. We will not rest until full justice is rendered for Travis and his family" said Roy T. Willey, IV, partner and trial lawyer at Anastopoulo Law Firm.
Anyone with any information about the whereabout of Andrew Demetre on the evening of Thursday, May 12th or early morning of Friday, May 13th is asked to visit the tip website set up for this case at pedicabcrash.com with any information.
